Hi all, I won't inundate you with my podcast updates but I had a great conversation with Jim Webb (son of the senator) who is a combat Marine in his own right, serving in Iraq at the height of the insurgency. He knows his history and the current force structure and capabilities of the military, especially the Marines, and says going into Kharg would be a death trap.
